海底王國(guó)的人因不滿人類的核武試爆干擾他們，因而派出梅加洛毀滅地上世界，并且控制了人造機(jī)器人噴射積格坐向?qū)?，不過人類終究奪回了噴射積格的控制權(quán)，并且通知了哥吉拉來消滅這只怪獸，沒想到海底人連絡(luò)了外星人，外星人派出蓋剛，演變成一場(chǎng)二對(duì)二的怪獸大戰(zhàn)。
1973年上映的日本電影，哥斯拉系列電影的第13部作品，觀眾人數(shù)約98萬人。
原始的劇情構(gòu)想來自電影公司舉辦的兒童征文活動(dòng)，本來打算拍一部以“噴射積格”為主角的非哥吉拉電影，然而后來東寶認(rèn)為噴射積格不足以支撐票房，而改拍成哥吉拉電影，全部拍攝過程只耗費(fèi)兩個(gè)星期，且由于預(yù)算有限，主要角色很少，也是整個(gè)系列電影里唯一沒有女性角色的作品。
